Excellent Materials

Martin Luther University is the first university in Saxony-Anhalt to be awarded a Cluster of Excellence under the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. The “Center for Chiral Electronics” (CCE) will receive around 49 million euros to study new concepts for highperformance, energy-saving electronics. It commenced operations in January 2026. Superfood from Saxony-Anhalt

Agriculture must adapt to changing climate conditions if it is to produce enough high-quality food in the future. The “SuSaKlim” project is investigating the potential of regionally grown crops. The aim is to work with the agricultural and food production sectors to produce tasty and healthy food. The project is part of the consortium “Digitalization of Plant Value Chains” (DiP). Read more

The consortium “Innovation Region for the Digital Transfor mation in Nursing and Healthcare” (TPG) is investigating how innovative technologies can help tackle the challenges of an ageing population. More than 200 parters are involved in the innovation network in southern Saxony-Anhalt, which is coordinated by MLU. Read more

A digital treasure from the renaissance

Around 3.500 books from the Renaissance period are being digitised at the University and State Library of Saxony-Anhalt (ULB). They belong to the Library von Alvensleben, located in Hundisburg Castle in Haldensleben. The project is part of the ULB’s digitisation initiative, which aims to make collections of historical books accessible to the public. Read more
